Why did you choose ORU?
I worked hard in high school so that I could go to a great college. I wanted to find a place where I would be challenged academically and I was impressed by the classes and professors here at ORU. Not only were all the classes great, but the professors genuinely cared about their students. I also knew it was important for me to be a part of a campus where I could grow spiritually. I wanted a place where I could be discipled and encouraged as I dug deeper into my faith. ORU was that place for me. The combination of academic excellence and spiritual community was exactly what I was looking for.
Did you visit the campus before enrolling at ORU?
I came for an Eagle Day visit before enrolling, and it completely solidified in my mind the fact that ORU was the place for me. I spent the night in the dorms, attended wing devotions, and met incredible girls who talked to me and welcomed me as if I’d known them for months. I visited classes that sparked my interest, attended chapel, and stood in amazement as people of many different backgrounds came together and worshipped one God. I left campus knowing that ORU was exactly where I needed to be.
What has been a highlight for you while at ORU?
The opportunity that ORU has afforded me to learn more about God, myself, my calling, and the world around me is indescribably priceless. It has been a safe place for me to question, grow, give, learn, and build relationships. I can guarantee that I would not be the same person that I am today if I had attended another university. Being at ORU has allowed me to find what truly makes me come alive and to be able to do it while surrounded by some of the best friends I have ever had.
What are you involved with on campus?
I am a part of the Honor’s Program, which has been a great opportunity for me to be challenged academically. I have really enjoyed the Honors Seminar classes. Being a part of the Missions and Outreach Program as a mission’s team member, mission’s assistant team leader, and outreach team member has given me the opportunity to learn what it truly means to serve by being the hands and feet of Jesus. I am also a part of the Chaplain Program here at ORU. I have learned the value of building relationships and investing in people’s lives. These areas of involvement have helped mold and prepare me for what God has called me to do with my life. |
