International Student Admission Requirements
An international student is defined as any student applying to ORU that is not a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.
1. Complete an application for admission (Note: All of your admission documents must have your exact name as it is written on your passport and academic records).
2. Submit a Biographical Essay (Note: Essay should be type written and no more than two double–spaced pages).
On a separate sheet of paper write a brief essay addressing the following questions:
a). Explain your Christian faith and how you anticipate it will be influenced by attending ORU.
b). In what ways will ORU assist you in obtaining you life’s goals?
c). What contribution do you feel you can make to the ORU community?
3. $35 Application Fee (U.S. Dollars)
Attach the $35 application fee in the form of a traveler’s check, money order or a check (from a U.S. bank only) payable to ORAL ROBERTS UNIVERSITY. Do not send cash.
4. Academic History Documentation
FRESHMAN Applicants
A freshman is defined as a student that is entering a university for the first time after completion of secondary education.
Submit official transcripts, matriculation certificates, mark sheets and/or diplomas with English translation from your secondary school to World Education Services (WES)* for a document-by-document evaluation. An official evaluation of your academic history will be sent by WES to Oral Roberts University.
TRANSFER Applicants
A transfer is defined as a student that has attended a certified accredited college or University after the completion of the secondary education and is now applying to ORAL ROBERTS UNIVERSITY.
Submit official transcripts, matriculation certificates, mark sheets and/or diplomas from your secondary school and transcripts of all coursework completed after your secondary education with translations to World Education Services (WES*) for a comprehensive course-by-course evaluation. An official evaluation of your academic history will be sent by WES to Oral Roberts University.
Note: Transcripts of all coursework completed after your secondary education must be submitted whether or not you want the coursework considered for transfer credit.
*Academic History Documentation must be submitted to World Education Services (WES) by completing the Application for Evaluation of Internalized Educational Credentials. The application is available online at www.wes.org/application/. Livets Ord University in Sweden, and Peniel College of Higher Education in England may not be required to submit transcripts to World Education Service. 5. English proficiency requirements
ORAL ROBERTS UNIVERSITY requires proof that you have sufficient knowledge of the English language to succeed in your program of study. You must provide proof of English language proficiency before you can be admitted:
- Provide official scores of at least 61 (internet–based), 173 (computer-based) or 500 (paper–based on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Have the official test scores sent directly from English Testing Services to ORAL ROBERTS UNIVERSITY (institution code # 6552). Test scores cannot be more than two years old. Registration material for the test may be obtained at the TOEFL website: www.toefl.org
- Provide documentation that your education was taught entirely in English for a minimum of four years.
6. ACT/SAT scores (when applicable)
The American College Test (ACT) OR the Standardized Achievement Test (SAT) is required for Freshman applicants that are
proficient in the English language.
ORU must receive an official test score from ACT or SAT. Official ACT scores can be requested from the ACT organization (www.act.org, institutional code #3427), or SAT scores from The College Board (www.collegeboard.com, institutional code #6552).
- Applicants with an SAT combined math and critical reading score of 990 (or above) or a composite ACT score of 20
(or above) are considered for full admission.
7. Minister’s Recommendation
A minister’s recommendation must be completed by a minister who is not related to you and mailed directly from the church office to the ORU Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
8. Financial Guarantee Form
When attending ORU on an F-1 student visa, all financial requirements must be proven in order for ORU to issue the immigration document I-20 form. The ORU Financial Guarantee Form must be completed fully including:
- Signature of applicant with understanding of cost of education.
- Signature of Affidavit and understanding of cost of education by the Guarantor.
- Signature and Seal of the financial institution of the Guarantor. If the institution is unable to sign the Financial
Guarantee Form, a letter from the institution on letterhead with seal and signature is required, verifying the financial
ability of the Guarantor.
9. Official Immunization Records
Submit your Immunization Records. The Immunization form has to be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at ORU. Admission to the University may be offered without a complete immunization record. However, verification of immunization should be received prior to the first day of class.
